Discover Versailles

The Palace of Versailles dates back to the seventeenth century. Successively a hunting lodge, a seat of power and today a museum. With the gardens and the Palaces of Trianon, the park of the Château de Versailles spreads over 2000 acres. Versailles was one of the first sites to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. Recognised for its influence on architecture, landscape design and its unique historical testimony. Versailles is recognised as a masterpiece of human creative genius. If there is one Château to visit, this is the one! “It's not a palace, it's an entire city. Superb in its size, superb in its matter.” – CHARLES PERRAULT, LE SIÈCLE DE LOUIS LE GRAND, 1687

Versailles FAQs

It is almost as if Versailles was designed with our bike tour in mind. The majority of our ride takes place within the Royal Gardens, where we can enjoy stress-free cycling, far from the traffic and crowds. Outside of the gardens, cycle paths weave their way throughout the town and are set on the footpaths, away from traffic.

We meet at a café in central Paris: Le Paris Montparnasse Café, 43 Avenue du Maine, 75014 Paris.

The café is across the road from Gare Montparnasse train station, which has excellent metro connections on lines 6, 12, 4 & 13. We recommend using the app CityMapper to best navigate the metro while you are in Paris, it is free to download & you can save journeys to use offline. Input the exact address to avoid any confusion – there are a few cafés with similar names! Do feel free to come earlier for a coffee & croissant to kick start your day.

Once in Versailles we saddle up on bikes that are stored at our base in Versailles.

Of course. All our tours of Versailles include a guided tour of the Palace with a fully licensed member of our team. We do not abandon you with an audio guide. We use earpieces so you can hear your guide, can ask questions & don’t miss a thing! If there is one Palace in the world to visit, this is the one!

We limit our group sizes to 12 riders per group in Versailles to keep you safe, cover more ground & offer a personalised experience.

Yes, we include the inner gardens and fountain show as part of our tours. However, please note the fountains only turn on at set times, on set dates:

Every Saturday and Sunday from April 4th to November 1st 2020, and some exceptional dates (May 8th and 21st, July 14th 2020).
-Every Tuesday from May 19th to June 23th 2020, and Friday April 10th 2020.

We still visit the inner gardens on days the fountains do not run as Versailles “was a garden before a castle, a feast before a garden, a night before a thousand suns. If you want to understand what Versailles, one must first walk through its gardens”.
