Please ignore that one person who ridiculously gave the only four-star review out of almost 800 people - we all know people like that. If you are even considering a visit to Versailles, for the first time or not, you simply must book a tour with BBT. You will experience the property like never before, develop friendships with your small group, shop at the local market for your own picnic lunch by the canal, and make lifelong memories that bring a smile to your face every time you think back to that magical day. We feel lucky to have experienced what clearly is a passion for every BBT guide, who all are utterly positive, talented, funny and kind. I am proud to recommend them 100% and booking another tour next time we visit is at the very top of our list. read less
Stu and Nikki live in Versailles. It is their town and they are both full of life and energy, passionate about their town and the history and significance of the Kings Louie in the history of France and the world. They share many anecdotes about the kings, their courts and their ladies that bring the palace and its grounds to life.
The bicycle tour on the grounds was over the top. It was well organized, thoughtfully executed, and brought a sense of perspective to the scale and beauty of the grounds. We were fortunate enough to take a Saturday tour and were able to see the fountain show, which was amazing!!
The tour itself is a small group format, which allowed us to get to know our fellow cyclists and both Nikki and Stu. I give it a 15 out of 10!! Thanks again for a most memorable day! read less
Firstly you would NEVER see so much of Paris or Versailles if you were walking for days, as you can on a bicycle in a few hours. Secondly, there isn’t an audioguide or group tour that could match the feeling of being on a personal small group trip with these guys. Their knowledge and passion for Paris and surrounds makes you feel like you’re hanging out with friends, not walking around like a tourist. The experience is intimate, warm and inspiring.
Paris and Versailles are spectacular places- treat yourself to see them in style. Stu and Nikki... we loved you guys and we cant wait to be back next year and do these two tours again with our family. You should be so proud of yourselves, you’ve got something magical going on.
I never write reviews, but seriously DO this tour. We were so damn glad we did. read less

Stu was great! He has a way of telling the history in an interesting way as a story. We learned so much. This was my 3rd visit to Versailles. I hardly got anything out of my previous tours in comparison. We saw behind the scenes, places where you couldn't normally go. Plus all the essentials. We stayed away from the crowds and lines. Other bike tours were jealous of us with their large groups. Stu knows his stuff! He is very interested in history and it shows. Not your average tour guide. This is hands down THE best Versailles tour! You will not regret booking with Boutique Bike Tours! read less

The Boutique Bikes tour of Versailles palace and gardens was the unanimous best experience we had by a long shot. Stu and Nicki are tremendous guides with amazing knowledge, humor and showmanship. If you have a free day in Paris, you would be doing yourself a disservice not spending the day with either of them. If and when I am able to return to Paris I will be doing the Paris by night tour and will purposely schedule my trip around their schedule. First class company! read less

This thing was ridiculously worth the price. Like, the amount of money you pay for these guides to hang out with you for 8-10 hours doesn't seem like enough. You'll be lucky if you can book tickets a few months out as I hear it's booking up fast. I can't imagine anyone being dissatisfied with one of their tours. Book now!! read less
At the end of the day, I gained an appreciation of the magnitude of this historical site and a better understanding of French history. The tour guide, Nicholas, was very patient in answering all the questions and describing significant items of interest. Overall, this was one of the highlights of my Paris trip. read less

Not only was he extremely friendly, but he was an excellent story teller and made me really interested in the history of Versailles. He has a remarkable talent for making history come to life, and it was easily my favorite day that I spent in France. If you’re looking for a memorable experience and a chance to learn more then this is absolutely the way to do it. read less

Stu is immensely knowledgeable... read moreWe love to travel. And we aren't passive travelers. This is our first time in Paris and after researching, we chose two tour with Boutique Bike Tours.
Stu is immensely knowledgeable and connected and quite talented at his craft. I love the serendipitous moments when you are around folks doing what they love. It is almost a superpower. Stu leads amazing tours of Paris and the palace.
Nikki is a perpetual source of happy and manages the logistics of where you need to be. It is such a pleasure to have a great tour and a really really well run experience. They really care to ensure you have a fabulous experience.
Stu and Nikki manage not only your learning but your experience. This is so unique.
Our Versailles Tour was led for the first part by Pascal who is also statistically awesome. An expert and perhaps one of the world's most interesting men. Seriously he could star in a Heineken commercial. A family on our tour brought their 5 and 8 year old kids and you can imagine the complexities that adds to any tour. Especially 9 hour tours. Pascal managed and engaged with hose kids like Maria Montessori. Brave family for taking them but what could have been so derailing was manged in a way that was inspiring.
Seeing folks do what they love and doing well is contagious.
You should have no second thoughts about booking anything with Stu and Nikki as along as you are somewhat decent shape and know how to ride a bike and have some serious interest in France. read less

Outside of the gardens, cycle paths weave their way throughout the town and are set on the footpaths, away from traffic.
We meet at a café in central Paris: Le Paris Montparnasse Café, 43 Avenue du Maine, 75014 Paris.
The café is across the road from Gare Montparnasse train station, which has excellent metro connections on lines 6, 12, 4 & 13. We recommend using the app CityMapper to best navigate the metro while you are in Paris, it is free to download & you can save journeys to use offline. Input the exact address to avoid any confusion – there are a few cafés with similar names! Do feel free to come earlier for a coffee & croissant to kick start your day.
Once in Versailles we saddle up on bikes that are stored at our base in Versailles.
Of course. All our tours of Versailles include a guided tour of the Palace with a fully licensed member of our team. We do not abandon you with an audio guide. We use earpieces so you can hear your guide, can ask questions & don’t miss a thing! If there is one Palace in the world to visit, this is the one!
