FAQs

General

Yes! To provide guided visits inside a museum or historical monument in France guides are required to hold a professional license of Guide-Conférencier. At Boutique Tours we are French State registered and accredited professional guides and hold the Carte Professionnelle. Therefore your guide is allowed to guide you both around the grounds and inside the sites! We do not hire unqualified guides. to drop you off at sites on your own with an audio guide.  Keep in mind if you book a tour in which your guide will be leading you outside the grounds only, not inside the monument, they are most likely unqualified!

Our tours are far from the Tour de France. We ride at a leisurely pace, on flat terrain, on protected bike lanes with plenty of stops for stories, snacks & photos. Though you will see much more of Paris & Versailles than you would on foot our bikes make it effortless and enjoyable.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. In order to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”  Albert Einstein

Einstein was quite right, and with our assistance, we can have you riding confidently in no time. Our bikes are comfortable, stable and easy to ride, making your return to cycling that much smoother.

Unfortunately, we do not have the time to teach you from the beginning, so please only book on tour if you have some riding experience.

So whilst you do not need to be Lance Armstrong and can leave your lycra at home, we cannot accept anyone who has never ridden a bike.

Our guides love a challenge, and we have many secrets up our sleeve to make a rainy day as memorable and fun as a sunny day in Paris or Versailles. We have classy jackets to keep you dry, and know all the secret spots to take shelter in.

As our head guide, Stu, likes to say, “the harder it rains, the more memorable it will be…”.

Yes, you can, however we do limit our group sizes to ten on a first-come-first served basis. Feel free to contact us by email in the morning if you are thinking of joining the tour and we will do our best to let you know if there is space.

We are committed to keeping our team & groups small to ensure the quality of your experience. As a result our groups do fill quickly in the summer.  We recommend that you book well in advance for all of our tours. If you have a party of four or more then we recommend that you book at least two weeks in advance in order to have your first choice of tour dates and times.

Paris

Yes. The City of Light became the City of Bike! For cyclists in Paris, the last few years have been nothing short of revelatory. New protected bike lanes & areas free of motor traffic all over the city have made Paris rank 8th in the world.’s most cycle friendly cities. In fact more residents of the greater Paris region cycle today than take the busiest line of the city’s Metro! Since 2016, the left bank of the Seine River has been free of motor traffic, Remember we are locals and we bike here all the time, so you can trust us to take you on the safest routes that allow you to see the best of our city!

Versailles

It is almost as if Versailles was designed with our bike tour in mind. The majority of our ride takes place within the Royal Gardens, where we can enjoy stress-free cycling, far from the traffic and crowds. Outside of the gardens, cycle paths weave their way throughout the town and are set on the footpaths, away from traffic.
